Great Tractor – A must for adventours Boys!!
My son received this one as his 2nd b’day gift from my parents…and he simply loves it..!! It was very easy to assemble. He is still not able to paddle the whole round but can do it half way… He simply loves pushing it around when he’s not sitting on it. Its easier to paddle on wodden floor rather than carpet. It would be fun to play with it outside but that’ll have to wait for a fair few months now..!! It does occupy considerable space in the house and its frustrating for him when he cannot turn it around in the narrow passageway… But all in all its a good one. The trailor comes off easily.. so most of the times he detaches it…So we don’t connect it most of the times.

Great purchase
We purchased this for our 2 1/2 year old and it fits him perfectly. He can reach the pedals with no problem (average sized kid). If I had one problem it is that the trailer has a small red “pin” to keep it attached to the tractor. With lots of play, the pin can shift from the locked position to unlocking itself and the trailer falls off. Therefore, this little pin can easily get lost. We chose to get the pedal powered tractor instead of a battery operated one to keep the kids active and in case the tractor accidentally got left out in the rain. I feel like this is a toy that we can store in the attic when he grows up and enjoy with our grandkids many, many, many years down the road!

Grandson LOVES his John Deere !!
My 3 year old grandson knows a green and yellow John Deere anything… Grandma and I purchased it as a early Christmas gift. We were unable to be with him when he opened the box so we did a Face Time and got to watch him. First thing he did when Dad and him got it put together was to jump in the trailer and wanted Dad to drive! It was so funny and the trailer had no problem holding his weight. It is very well built, take only a few minutes to assemble. Being chain driven it’s much easier for him to peddle across things like grass, graveled driveway compared to some of his other riding toys. You get ALOT for the price and his new brother that will be here early February 2014 will love this hand me down!

Three major flaws with this product!
The tractor and trailer has three major flaws. I bought this for my grandson on his birthday when he turned two.It is a very nice looking tractor and trailer. But because the wheels/tires are plastic instead of rubber they just spin, they really do not move the tractor and trailer. It is very hard even on concrete for him to use, the wheels just spin. The location of the pedals are not in a good location, they cause even the shortest of legs to hit the steering wheel so that makes it hard to drive and it crunches up his legs. The trailer is attached with a very small plastic piece that looks like a plug, that continually comes off and causes the trailer to come unhitched.Because of all the difficulties, it sits in the garage next to his daddy’s tractor. He just sits on it, but he still loves, loves, loves his tractor!I would not buy this product again unless they fix the flaws.

Don’t disappoint your child with this.
This tractor is only one wheel drive, meaning that when the child pedals, one rear wheel is moved and the other three wheels should go because that one is moving it forward. Tricycles work this way because the propelled wheel is centered. There is a reason cars come with either two wheel or four wheel drive. Think about canoeing, you paddle evenly on both sides unless you want to turn, then you paddle on only one side and go toward the other. The one wheel drive causes 2 problems:1. The tractor pulls to the side. Customer service at Peg Perego says that the child can steer differently to compensate. Yeah right.2. When the cheap plastic tire of the only wheel attached to the pedal slips on grass, carpet, or smooth flooring, the child can’t go anywhere.Customer service at Peg Perego told me this is an intentional design and that they can’t do anything to help me. Not what I would expect from that brand.Additionally, trying to assemble the trailer required brute strength to force plastic pegs into slots. The directions are poorly laid out with pictures separated from written instructions by several pages. Don’t waste your money; my son is having more fun with the box it came in than with the tractor.

Missing Parts for trailer but the tractor is great.
The tractor itself was perfect and our grandson was peddling around on it immediately while waiting for his Papa to put the trailer together. That’s when the problems started. It’s kind of hard to put the trailer together, with none of the parts in which to do so. It has the trailer, the wheels, the axel but absolutely nothing in which to mount the wheels to the axle. Now, I am left trying to track down makeshift pieces and my 3 year old grandson keeps asking to use his trailer.

Not as easy to assemble as indicated
The wagon that connects to tractor has plastic pegs that you snap into place to connect wagon to axel. Was never able to get them to snap together. Had to cut out pieces on axel and use washers and bolts to connect them. Really disappointed as this was an expensive toy.

Great look, it came defective but some work was enough to fix it.
Great look, horrible function. Beware of thinking the chain drive is a plus, the chain falls every time you kid wants to go in other direction.Update, after some work, chain is aligned with the traction and everything works fine. My kid love it and use is every day.

A fun heavy duty tractor from a great company.
This thing is great. My boys love this thing. (2 and 4 years old)The chain kept falling off every couple of days.Called support and they really tried to work with us but the authorized service centers in my area discontinued supporting without telling Peg Perego. After a few calls with support trying to work though the problem they authorized me to take it apart.I found that spacer on the axle was in the wrong spot. This caused the gear to be out of place by about an inch that allowed the chain to slip out of place.Put it back together with the replacement wheel locks they sent me for free. (they are one time use)It has not slipped off again in the last year. This thing is supper durable. The older neighborhood boys are sometimes kind rough when they are racing it but it takes it like a champ. The trailer is just as tough as the tractor. Not sure if the trailer has a weight limit but it sometimes ends up hauling two kids.I am impressed that after a year and lots of abuse it is still in great shape.

Absolute TRASH from John Deere/Peg Perego
Bought this for our son’s birthday. It was his big surprise. He was surprised AT HOW AWFUL this is. Cheap plastic assembly that’s supposed to just “snap” together, but needed tools and help from mom and dad’s super glue to stay together. The big back wheel of the tractor (that was pre assembled so it wasn’t us that screwed it up) won’t even turn because it’s too loose and gets stuck on the frame. The “trailer” is thin and wobbly so little man can barely pull a teddy bear with it and it’s held to the tractor by a thin piece of removeable plastic that keeps popping out. He gave up on the trailer within minutes. The chain is too loose so the little man can only ride a few minutes before dad has to unscrew the bottom and rethread the chain. I would have paid double the price for a good quality toy that would last. Instead I threw away money on a cheap toy that’s never going to be used. I bought from Peg Perego because I thought I could trust this brand. Never again!

Difficult to assemble
The trailer to this tractor was impossible to assemble. Three adults all with various tools attempted to assemble the trailer. We all gave up and threw it in the trash. The tractor had very little assembly and was enjoyed by grandnieces and grandnephews. I do not understand why these two components are shipped with assembly required. Shouldn’t a small toy trailer come with the wheels on it? The pedal tractor is cute but I cannot recommend this toy as it was a very frustrating purchase.

It was a nice tractor. The assembly went well until we tried to snap the trailer together. It would not go together and tried with a hammer. Finally had to put screw clamps to get it put together.

Love it
I read several reviews about how hard to assemble. I agree. I had to devise a way to place a sledge hammer in the bed of the trailer, then the end of the handle on the carriage frame to pound the parts to place, once done works great, except I scratched the bed of the trailer. I guess Santa’s elves are not as tidy as they need to be

Tractor is great-trailer not so much!
I got his toy for my 20 month old grandson. I am used to assembling toys, furniture and the like but have yet to be able to assemble the trailer portion of this toy. The tractor is great and I think my grandson will start enjoying it once he can pedal. He is a big boy (in the 95% of height for his age) but his feet don’t quite make it to the pedals yet. I push him around inside the house and he enjoys it (but my back doesn’t). The tractor itself is nearly all put together except for the seat, and other components. The instructions are pretty bad (all pictorial) and like I said, I’ve put together a lot of things…anyway…for the trailer portion the instructions have an image that shows how you easily snap on the green portion of the trailer to the black underside…NOT ! I can’t snap it together. So for the moment this portion is sadly sitting in disarray in my living room. All in all, the tractor looks very nice, and durable and I think my grandson will get a lot of enjoyment out of it. The trailer is just a fun element to add on so if I can’t figure out how to put it together I’l just have to throw it out…how sad. I still recommend this toy for the tractor portion.UPDATE: 1/15/2013After trying every few days to press the two parts of the trailer (the black and the green parts) together, I finally got one of the spots to engage…then after a few more days, I pressed the rest of the spots that snap together. It took a lot of effort. And as for the instructions…oh my goodness…I still feel they are very poor. Anyway, I now have a beautiful tractor with a cool trailer attached…hooray for grandma.

Some struggle
Got for son for his 3rd birthday. He fits it well but struggles with the peddles, had been riding a bike since he was 2. Only one of the back wheels are controlled by the peddles so I think that is part of the problem. The wheels also don’t have a lot of traction so we are in the process of adding an old tire to the back wheels to help

Finally after an hour it one finally POP on and you thought we had hit the jackpot!! Make that a game and you will have hours of entertainment! Merry Christmas – Thank you!

Made a toddler in my family very happy…
…and the parents as well as they told me assembly was very easy and went rather quickly. The delivery also went very quick so that I as the person gifting can only say the experience was positive. As for the recipient, I guess she is happy too and is getting good mileage out of her tractor. Too bad it is not available in other colours like say pink, which seems to be big among little girls of a certain age… I understand there are no problems with the wheels and perhaps for very small kids, the wagon on the back may af first be a bit much for the tyke in terms of steering but I think by the age of three, she will have mastered having the piece on the back of the tractor!

Not the best quality.
I absolutely love the look of this tractor. We are a farmer family and love our John Deere merchandise. The wagon is nice and hooks nicely onto the back of the tractor. The only issue I have with this is that the wheel fell off after not much use. :(. If your kids aren’t real hard on things, it may last you longer than it did for us. It’s too bad because it really is the cutest little tractor and my kids really enjoyed it while they could use it. I think for the price of this it should have lasted longer than a few months before falling apart. It should be made with better quality materials because kids can be pretty tough on their toys. Disappointed in this, because we love John Deere and also love Peg Perego. I have other Peg Perego toys that have lasted years. This one just didn’t last which is a huge bummer..

Lots of fun!
I got this for my son for his 3rd birthday. He really enjoys it. It is pretty sturdy and he can get around well with it on flat surfaces. My only complaint is that I didn’t realize that it has a weight limit. Of course my 6 year old nephew got on it and I have been afraid he will break it as it seems like age 4/weight 45 pounds is about the limit. I probably would have chosen one that would last past age 4 or would have gotten it for his 2nd birthday instead.

Manufacturing issues
We ordered this item for our grandson (he was 2 1/2 when we purchased it) as a gift last Christmas. We needed to attach some of the parts but we were unable to attach all of the parts because it arrived with the chain not properly attached. I contacted the company directly to see if there was an easy fix and they told me that the tractor should have arrived with the chain attached but since it didn’t they would need to send us the kit to do this ourselves. It was not easy to take apart, put the chain on and then get it back together again. Our grandson only uses the tractor when he visits, and needless to say he hasn’t been able to play with it much this year. Today he was riding it around and the chain came off again. We’ll have to take it apart again in order to repair it. We are very disappointed with this product.

It was easy enough to assemble
I purchased this tractor for my son’s 2nd birthday. It was easy enough to assemble, and the finished product did have a very polished appearance though some of the parts seemed a bit flimsy. When the kids tried to ride it, however, the drive chain immediately slipped off of the the sprocket. With some minor disassembly, I was able to get the chain back on the drive mechanism, only to have it slip off again as soon as pedaling was attempted. It appears to be a design flaw, as I attempted to fix the problem several more times with the same result. With no mechanism in place to tighten the chain, the only way to fix the problem is to remove a link, which is a bit beyond the skill of most customers I would imagine. Even if the drivetrain had been functioning properly, I still have doubts about the design, as the tractor is only 1-wheel drive and the plastic drive wheel doesn’t seem to provide enough traction to get it moving. In summary–looks good, poor design. I won’t be replacing it and can’t recommend it.

One large flaw.
I wanted so much for this to be perfect as my grandson loves John Deere tractors. But, the heel of his foot hits the fender of the back wheels on each turn. There is not enough clearance for a child to pedal. We got it for his 2nd birthday so he is on the young, not old, age of the recommended age range (2-4). I think a four year old would have even more trouble.

Great for Cowboys/Ranch hands-in-training 🙂
I bought this as a gift for my nephew. He is a John Deere fanatic just like his grandpa. He loves it! I decided on this ” pedal” version instead of the battery powered version since I actually expected my nephew to be using this thing constantly and I know he would not be patient enough to wait for the charging of batteries. Boy was I right. 🙂 Overall good product and looks sturdy enough to last a good while, but we will see…

Bad directions and marginal quality.
This is just ok. My 4 year old likes it once it was assembled, but the directions were not intuitive and we had to modify the trailer piece because there was no way it fit together the way it came. Even with that, the trailer does not stay hitched to the tractor for any length of time. The tractor part itself seems sturdy enough but one of the hub cap pieces was also defective. Overall, not worth the price.

Bought this for our 18 month old grandson. Granted he’s small and can’t quite manuever the pedals yet, but this tractor will be used for many years to come. His brother pushes him around in it and even puts him in the trailer and totes him around. Appears to be well-made. Has been outdoors a couple of times already. Assembly was easy. Hate it, but had to send it back!
Like other reviews, the tractor arrived with the chain off and while i was able to get it back on the sprockets, after a few hand turns with the pedal on a slick floor, there was no traction and the chain kept throwing off. And getting the trailer basket attached to the frame/wheels was darn near impossible. The reviews are also all lumped together with other tractors, so you don’t even know what to believe. We wound up getting the $300 metal model and it’s an awesome tractor!

This appears to be a mechanical design flaw and for that reason only I would not recommend buying this product
Received and put together only to find out the rear axle chain sprocket does not line up with the pedal sprocket, causing the chain to be in a bind and it comes off every time. Returned and received a replacement and the exact same problem existed. This appears to be a mechanical design flaw and for that reason only I would not recommend buying this product. If this problem did not exist, I’m sure I would buy several for my grand children as it is very appealing. Return & re-order process via Amazon Prime is very good.

Junk!
This is absolute junk. To begin with, when we took the tractor out of the box, we noticed small parts like hubcaps were broken and cracked. We got a little of it put together, and then we realized the SEAT had been left out of the box!! That was not even the worst part. The chain kept coming off the tractor, and it is a real pain to put it back on. To make things even worse, all of the wheels do not spin properly. We ordered a replacement, which was sent quickly at no cost to us, but the chain was even worse on it. I’d say this product is VERY overpriced. Cheaply made plastic. Doesn’t seem sturdy, durable, or dependable.

It’s a good thing I didn’t even let my boy see this
Product arrived with the rear wheel assembly broken beyond repair. The parts #32 (SPST8550N) were shattered, causing the drive axle to swing around freely and mar the rest of the frame. The non-drive rear wheel (only one wheel is actually connected securely enough to the axle to drive it) was loose on the axle, apparently caused by one of the retaining washers having been broken. As a warning to other users, the assembly used looks prone to breakage – about 1/4″ of plastic retains a larger (~2.5″ diameter) molded plastic split-washer that attaches to the axle. If any portion of that cast plastic washer develops a crack, it will fail and tip the tractor when the axle swings free. It’s a good thing I didn’t even let my boy see this, let alone ride it; he would have been crushed at our taking it away and seriously hurt had he tried to ride it. I’m glad I caught it within the amazon return window and read some of the other reviews on here about the tractor being too small, it sounds (and looks like) the tractor isn’t for our boy.

Another chain problem
Another tractor with a chain that won’t stay on. Why not send the repair kit and instructions with every tractor? Or better yet, recall these tractors, repair them, then put them on the market? One sad little boy as we wait a week for the parts. Please fix this problem. We bought one of these 5 years ago and it has held up beautifully. Couldn’t wait to give one to another daughter’s little boys. Tears because Perego won’t take care of this.

Love this pedal tractor. Not too hard to put together, although we did have issues with the cart. Still haven’t been able to assemble and attach. It works out since the tractor is the main draw. Chain Problems
I bought his tractor for my grandson’s second birthday. This tractor did not meet my expectations in that the chain keeps coming off.
