Brand new stove wouldn’t light, but replacement one works fine
Just bought this, received it on a Friday. Bought a butane cylinder from the local sporting goods store…I did get it to light once while testing it at home, but was leaving for my camping trip the next morning. Next evening…no go, will not light. Troubleshooting directions say to remove the cartridge after three tries, shake the butane cannister, and try again. Nope. Tried a brand new cartridge in case the other was a lemon…nope. I could hear the gas (and smell it), but all I could hear was a tiny little soft blip from the igniter, so I think that may be the issue. Bummed two other brand new (different brand) cartridges, still didn’t work. Temperatures were in the high 70s (F) so the lower vapor pressure wouldn’t have been an issue. Cannot return through Amazon.UPDATE: Ok, so the manufacturer actually stood by their product; I emailed and it took them a few days to respond, but once I filled out the form and uploaded pictures they sent me a replacement very quickly. The new stove works great, used it with the same butane cylinders I had already bought….was just a bad ignition mechanism on the first stove. Rating updated based on the very quick response by Coleman and solid performance of the replacement.

Trouble With Lid NOT Closing Solved!!!
I am PREPARED with this little 1 burner. I can handle power outages in style. OMG and the price is fantastic! Getting the lid to close and latch was a learning curve but once my seeing eye grandson popped the canister in correctly it worked like a charm. The trick is…put the pin in the hole first and then roll it until it lines up with the notch in the collar. Ta da…the door closed perfectly. Don’t return it like I almost did…it is NOT defective. Just grab a kid with really good eyes (hahaha) to line the pin up into the hole first. I was doing it the wrong way by lining up the notched collar first. The door wouldn’t close and I thought it was defective. So glad it wasn’t. I love it!

Best Tortilla Stove!
I have an electric stove and I have always LOVED the flavor of a gas stove warmed tortilla! I looked everywhere, then found this gem. I absolutely love this item. It makes me very happy with the way it heats up my corn tortillas. It’s easy to use, light weight and has a small footprint for storage. I can make about 60 tortillas with one canister of gas!! I purchased a cast iron ring to keep the tortilla from falling in the middle. I would buy this stove again in a heartbeat. Bonus: I have a warmer for food, when my electricity goes out!

Better than my stove at home!
Style: A-Pro: This blue butane single-burner stove is small and stylish and gives car camping a super fun home-away-from-home kind of feel.Con: The minus is not because of the stove, but because the carrying case is made of rather cheap plastic, though it is light enough and does the job of being protective and easy to tote along with other camping gear, so it’s definitely not a deal-breaker for me (and the stove is so cheap that one shouldn’t expect much in terms of “extras”).Ease of use: A+I watched a couple of videos to learn how to install the butane gas and turn it on and off, but honestly, this is so user-friendly that even a kid can do it.Cook Worthiness: B+I love gas stoves! I titled this review “better than my stove at home” because I’m cooking on an electric range at home right now, and it’s just not in the same league as cooking over gas. However, I did knock a few points from this stove’s cook-worthiness because it’s a little tricky to get the gas at just the right level so as not to burn the pancakes/eggs/whatever you plan to cook. What I typically think of as needing medium-high heat at home seems to need more of what would be medium-low heat for this stove. The benefit of this is that it’s super easy to get a good hot flame for quickly boiling water – hence coffee making can happen with ease!Stability: A+This is my first camp stove and I have to say that I felt pretty savvy being able to cook with my cast-iron skillet while the folks that I was camping with were having trouble with a rickety metal pot toppling over their old-school style screw-on-the-gas-can single-burner stove.Versatility: AI took note of another poster’s comment about using their stove to cook frozen meat and keep food from going bad during a hurricane, and I plan to do this too. Not that I’m looking forward to our next hurricane, but I’m super glad that I have this stove and I’ve stocked up on butane gas to make sure that I’m ready for when the next one arrives!

Best purchase ever for outdoor usage.
I am so glad I purchased this single burner stove. It is lightweight, so easy to use and store. I’ve used on camping cabin overnights with no indoor cooking. Set this up on picnic table and cooked and served meals right there. As someone who has been apprehensive about using gas grills, etc., this stove put me at ease immediately. I purchased a supply of butane canisters to go with it. I can look forward to that morning cup of coffee when camping.

great camp stove/side burner
This is a basic camp stove, that uses butane. very simple to use, lights easy, canister loads easily. it is compact and easy to pack up. The butane canister fits right into the stove so everything is self contained. I was not very familiar with butane, I had read it was expensive compared to propane, if you buy the canister at a club store they are about $8 for a four pack. A canister is should last 1.5 hours on High, this this stove gets hot fast, in a camping/cook out/ emergency situation I do not see anyone needing to burn that much fuel, if you were going to use this daily as your stove and you live in an RV you may want to check into a propane option. Also I read that butane has issues operating below 30 degrees, again if that is a situation you are concerned about go with a propane option.

Cheap, and cheaply made [Updated after 3 years of use]
[Original review] — After many years, my first Amazon review:The camp stove arrived promptly, and was (to my mind) very inexpensive ($16.25 including tax, delivered, in my case). Inexpensive probably because it is exceedingly flimsy and has very poor quality control. The metal door covering the gas canister compartment did not even come close to meeting the adjoining metal at the right edge of the burner area. One or the other was bent/warped and there was a quarter-inch gap at the back. Easy to bend back to roughly fit, but that shouldn’t be necessary out-of-the-box. More troubling: the instastart piezo-electric igniter failed immediately. It worked exactly 3 times. On the 4th attempt the click went soft, and no spark was produced. It failed completely on the 5th attempt.I’m sending this one back for a replacement. If the igniter fails on the replacement, I’ll probably keep the camp stove because it is so inexpensive and just use a 99-cent butane long-nose grill lighter. But, based on my experience plus the other failures I have read about, the design should probably omit this feature; because it is poorly engineered and has a seemingly very limited lifespan. Always bring a back-up lighter!***[Update] — has it really been 3 years? Replacement stove discussed above arrived without drama. The fit and construction was better, and the piezo lighter worked fine and still works fine to this day.My actually using the replacement stove started out slowly. Perhaps one camping trip in 2017 where it was used a couple of times for a couple of meals (heating water for coffee, and often long simmer meals). One camping trip in 2018 where it was used extensively over 3 days for coffee water boiling and meal prep, sharing the task with a friend’s tall green-1 lb-bottle-top propane Coleman burner. We’ve concluded that my flat table-top Coleman is the chef’s tool with an extremely variable flame, whereas the bottle-top burner Coleman is the water boiling beast. Several more trips in 2019: 4 days of use in May, 2 in June, 2-3 in July. Use may now tail-off as I’m doing more backpack-in camping and have shifted to a tiny Isobutane flat tank bottle top burner.I’ll leave the rating at 3 stars. The stove is basically working just fine, but the quality-control remains suspect. The replacement stove has developed a strange glitch that — without intervention with a tool — prevents the lock lever from being pushed down so as to lock-in the butane can for use. A piece of the locking mechanism will occasionally slide in from the left side while the lever is in the unlocked position and obstruct the lever preventing it beim being pushed down. I have to grab a knife or blade and move that piece of metal out of the way before I can push the locking lever down. So: 2 for 2 on problems with the stove, but in each case some fiddling allows it to be used for its intended purpose.

Great camping stove for the price
I recently stocked up on a bunch of camping stuff for a couple of trips this summer and this Coleman butane stove is my favorite item of the lot. I didn’t use it much on my first trip…just for boiling water. It takes about 5 minutes to get 5 or 6 cups of water to a boil on high heat. On my second trip, 1 can of butane was enough to heat a large, half full kettle of water 4 times, as well as cooking bacon and eggs for 4 people (in shifts) and warming up a bunch of pulled pork for sandwiches one time. At the end of the trip there was still a significant amount of butane left in the can but I can’t say exactly how much; probably somewhere between a third and a half of a can.The stove cost me a little over 20, cans of butane can be found at a number of stores for about 3 bucks per can (for Coleman brand butane) or you can order butane on Amazon. Most of the butane refills I saw on Amazon were going to take too long to ship which is why I bought at the store. Due to the nature of the product I think the canisters need to be shipped ground. The stove is very lightweight and comes with a simple, hard plastic case for carrying. Coleman is a brand I’ve always trusted for camping gear and I would expect this stove to last for years. A great deal if you can find it for $25 or less.

The only stove you’ll ever need
If you don’t need a backpack burner, this is the one you want. Grab a heat shield and you’re all set. One can of fuel lasted me 7 days on a solo trip, I make lots of coffee (3min boil) and reheat dinner for 7-10 minutes each day.

Very efficient and portable, useful during emergencies
I never do product reviews but I felt the need to comment on this gas stove – This stove is awesome and it really came in handy whenever we lost power here in Houston during the winter storm outage. I recommended this to all of my friends and family because its very light weight, easy to carry, it comes with a secure container to keep it in, and the butane gas cans are really affordable. The Coleman butane gas tanks aren’t sold on Amazon but they cost $3 at Walmart, and they’re always selling out so I recommend you stock up on them whenever possible, I order mine online and pick it up in the store. Make sure if you buy a butane gas can that is the right size, I accidentally bought one that was too small. Nonetheless I personally 10/10 recommend this product. Buy it, don’t think about it, don’t wait until theres a hurricane just buy it and stock up on the gas cans now so you don’t go into panic mode whenever the next Hurricane comes to town. Also – a cast iron skillet pairs great with this, they heat up faster and retain heat well so you can be slightly more efficient and make the gas cans last a little longer.

Great stove! Perfect for Coleman Camping Coffee Maker!
I just finished brewing my first pot of coffee using the single burner Coleman Butane Stove! I used the Coleman Camping Coffee maker to make it. It took about 20 mins to brew. I had previously ran a cycle of just water through the coffee maker using my Coleman 2 burner stove. So, what was weird, was on the real coffee run, I filled the pot to the 10 cup mark and the brewing stopped when the pot had, like, 11 cups in it! I guess it had some water in it from the previous, all water cycle. Anyway, the stove worked perfectly. I just inserted the butane canister and locked it down, turned the knob to start/max and on the second try it started! That was the test run. Then I put the coffee maker on the stove and turned the knob to the start/max setting and it light 1st time! It’s a great little stove. It weighs next to nothing and includes a plastic carrying case. And, no, it doesn’t include the butane cans. No, the filter didn’t collapse. No there weren’t any grounds in the coffee. Do make sure the lever that controls the pause and serve is in the out position. If it’s not Swing open the filer basket and pull it out. Then close the filer basket, I attached photos of the stove with coffee maker, stove without coffee and and a pics of the lever that controls the pause and serve. In the second pic of the pause and sever lever I put a bit of aluminium foil around it to make it stand out more. Oh by the way, I ran the stove indoors. I did leave the back sliding glass door open.

Just What I Needed!
In 2011 we had tornadoes in our area, and our power was out for five days! One of the things I missed the most during that time was my morning tea. I vowed to get something after the power came on that didn’t take electricity for the next time that happened, but of course I didn’t, partly because I wasn’t sure what to get. This Easter Sunday evening the same thing happened, but the power was only out for about 20 hours. As soon as it came back on, I started reading reviews and ordered this. I was a little nervous about it, because I’m not a cook, much less on a gas stove. But last Saturday morning I had my tea with water boiled on my new Coleman portable butane burner, and it worked great! I read the instructions ahead of time, and they were so thorough that it made me think it would be complicated to operate, but it couldn’t have been easier! (It was refreshing to have the directions written in clear English, which helped a great deal.)I took it out on my screened-in porch, since you’re supposed to use it outside. It started right up and took the water only about five minutes to boil. It’s nice and lightweight and has a hard-sided carrying/storage case. I’m all ready for next time (God forbid!).

Low burn
I like the compact foot print and that it came with a case. The burner is a good size to cover a medium size pan with ease.It doesn’t seem like it’s burning as hot as my Coleman propane stove and took longer to boil water for coffee. The flame doesn’t appear to fan out very much even at the highest setting. Since the flame is fairly small even on high, that doesn’t leave much room for adjustment when turning it down. On a medium setting the flame easily blows out.

Amazing little stove!!
I am so impressed with this stove! We took it on a weekend camping trip and cooked on it Friday night, Saturday morning, Sat night and Sunday morning. We still had butane left over in the first bottle we took. It was super easy to use, has a very quick and easy to use starter, the flame control is great, it was easy to clean, and it was big enough to hold a decent-size skillet. It also heated water in my kettle up to boiling in less than two minutes. It comes with a plastic case that is a little cheap and hard to close, but the stove itself is well-worth the price! It’s probably worth more than I paid for it quite honestly!

Back up – in case of power outage
another update (Dec 2018)Power outage in Nov (15 hours) due to ice storm. This was the reason I originally bought this little stove, after all.Put some water in a camp coffee pot (without the inner components), and boiled it to make tea before I left for work (gotta have my tea before I start my day!). Worked great. It came to a full, rolling boil. Was planning to make some pasta for dinner on it when I got home (checked in with the parents all thru the day, power was still out), but then power came back on about a half hour before I got home. But I know from the rolling boil I had that morning, making pasta or rice would not have been a problem.Still on that first can of fuel.————————-update (Feb 2018):Have used this 3 times to do a fish fry outside (easier clean up than using the stove inside, since boiling oil tends to splatter). Still on my first can of fuel. Works great! Oil in a 10 inch cast iron skillet gets plenty hot. Fish is delish! Very pleased with this stove.———————-original review:Bought this to have as a back up in case of a power outage (microwave and stove/range both work on electricity). Don’t plan on using this a lot, but wanted to try it out when it arrived, just to make sure it worked, and be sure of how it works. This little thing is amazing. It lit really easy…on the first try. I’m not sure if you can use a regular Teflon skillet on a gas flame, so I used a 10 inch; cast iron skillet. It got really hot! I fried up hot dogs (first) and kielbasa after that. Took only about 20 minutes. I’m thinking you can probably fry up eggs, sausage, boil water for tea or coffee, maybe even boil water in a small pot for pasta or hot cereal. It has a dial to be able to adjust the flame, low or high. Just be sure to stay above the minimum…I went a little below that, and the flame went out. But, re-lit with no problem. In my research to find this item, it seemed like there were many brands that basically work the same way. I went with the Coleman version because I know they have been making products like this for a long time…well known name. The one thing that this one doesn’t seem to do that the other ones do….others apparently come with the black burner turned down (space saver?), and when you get it, you have to flip it over. This one is already flipped, and it’s secured in place. Nice and stable. My only problem with that is that you can’t remove it to clean under it. I don’t see any way to release or remove it.Uses butane canisters…really easy to insert. They look just like an aerosol can. I bought a pack of 4. Averaged $4 per can. If you plan on using this stove a lot (camping, tailgating, picnics, etc), then buy the large quantities available…price per can will be lower. The canister lays on its side, and goes in the compartment directly behind the dial. It has a hinged door that hides it away, and keeps it from being exposed. Unit is all-in-one, easy to move.Of all the different styles of camp stoves I researched, this one seemed to be the easiest to use, and appeared to be the safest. (There was actually one that was ‘dual fuel’ – one of the fuels available to be used was gasoline. I thought that was great, since fuel readily available, until I saw the tubing that carried the fuel from the tank to the input actually ran thru the flame on the burner!). This one has uses no tubing, no regulator, nothing like that. It snaps in one way, and locks in place. I didn’t use the entire can, so I disconnected it, put the cap back on, and will be able to use it next time.Comes with a nice little carrying case for transport or storage. Plastic box with handle…like a mini briefcase.

I love how easy this is to use. It lights almost immediately. There is no real wind guard of course so it doesn’t perform well in wind or cold weather. That said, it is very lightweight and fits perfectly in our camp bucket.

Exceeded My Expectations
I’m not a camper. I bought this earlier this year, ahead of what promised to be a very active storm season. Basically, I just needed to be able to cook a hot meal and heat water. We broke it out for the first time when Hurricane Zeta struck this past Wednesday and let me just say, after a 5 day stretch with no electricity, I was thanking God I decided to buy this thing. It has performed beyond my expectations. I boiled water for washing dishes and cooked raw burgers, breakfast meats, and scrambled eggs in record time. It heats up FAST. I was using Coleman butane and one can lasted through a surprising amount of uses. Easy to set up and easy to use. Just load the can, unlock it on the front, flip the switch to ignite and control the heat with the front dial. My dad had it going in minutes having never used one like it. He, my mother, and I were in the process of recovering from Covid when that storm hit, so ease of use with this stove meant A LOT.When looking to buy, I considered a couple of different brands and types and glad I settled on this one. It only has one burner, but I didn’t really mind it. If you’re pressed for space like I am, trust me. You’ll want to stick with something this small. It’s the perfect size and it performs well. What more could you ask for? If you live in an area prone to bad weather, get yourself a camp stove like this one and stockpile fuel. Best thing you can do for yourself. I’d give this one 4 thumbs up if I could, highly recommend!

Works great for summer, not so great in winter
The stove itself is great except I personally had a few things that I had to modify on the stove itself. The four contact points on the bottom of the stove are bare plastic stand-off’s, and are slippery when on a smooth surface such as my plastic camping table. I had to glue rubber cabinet door stops on the bottom to aid in the stoves grip on smooth surfaces ( as of this writing I have used it several times and works great) no more sliding around. Second issue I had was the grill top is slippery also and no matter what kind of pan I use, the pan easily slides off, I had to rough up the surface of all four grill fingers in order for the pan to stop sliding off. I didn’t realize how poorly pure butane works in cold weather. and this stove is only designed for butane and not propane ( which is superior in cold weather) so I will either purchase a dual fuel stove or use one of my older camp stoves that uses white gas. Overall I like the stove.

Works Great!
Love this little stove! It’s really perfect for two people, cooking quick meals. The flame stays steady even with wind, we only had it blow out once or twice but we didn’t have anything up to act as a barrier. Definitely recommend standing up the case next to it. It cooked everything very quickly and evenly.

Great little stove for camping, boating, backyard or emergencies.
Video review in action: see link on picture.I like to cook outdoors, especially in the fall. (I always try to cook bacon outside on the back deck so I don’t have to clean up the grease splatter in the kitchen.) I have a grill but not one with a side burner. I also have a 2-burner propane stove I’ve used for ~15 yrs camping. So I went looking and researching for one that I could use at home, at the park, or while camping. I stumbled on the Coleman 1-Burner Butane Stove. You’ll want to shop around as I’ve seen the price vary from $16-35.This stove runs off butane instead of propane like many other camp stoves. The canisters are a bit smaller and should last at least an hour on full flame/heat. The nice thing about this stove is how easy it is to hook up the fuel. I’ve used a lot of different stoves over the years and most of them use a threaded design. This can be trouble for older children you’re trying to teach how to use one and help out, older adults, and folks with dexterity issues (like rheumatoid arthritis or hand injuries for example). With this stove you don’t have to thread/twist the canister on. Just drop it in the slot and push down on a lever that locks it into place and pressurizes the system. Then just turn the knob past max till it clicks and the igniter sparks into the gas. It’s that easy and you’re cooking! There’s other things I like about this little stove too. Check out my video review to see how easy it is to operate and what else I like about it! Whether you’re using this for camping, boating, back yard BBQ, or as an emergency cooking source when your power goes out, it’s a great versatile addition to your gear.

Coleman Quality.
I bought this for in home use for when the power is out.Make coffee, heat soup, etc. It will not tolerate a large diameterpot or pan over 10 inches due to the placement of the gas canisterso it’s not for preparing a family meal one item at a time.

A quality stove
We bought this stove for use during power outages (which render the electric stove useless) The build quality is good, and it cooks food very efficiently. I highly recommend this stove.

Classic Quality
Classic Coleman quality. Inserted a butane fuel can and worked immediately. Ignition, controls, and flame were all smooth in operation. Highly recommend if you need a standard size portable stove.

Tampered with Prior to delivery
I received my butane stove, and it looks like an untrustworthy mess. The case was cracked. When I read the instructions, it said to turn the knob to the lightning bolt to ignite, and there is no lightning bolt on the knob (picture attached). I turned it around to see if it’s the right butane stove in the case, and the manufacturer information is a totally different piece of plastic than the rest. It looks like it’s from a different stove, and it has notable scuff marks preventing me from reading all of the information. This is super sketchy.

Wow! No compromise here.
I’ll start by stating that I wasn’t looking for this stove, I was looking for a backpacking stove and fuel that were affordable. I’m a bit of a prepared minded person and am always looking for alternative conveniences. When I saw the fuel for this stove on clearance for $1.50/can of butane (Walmart) I thought, too good to be true! But what stove to buy? After some research I settled on this one (I’ll still source a backpacking stove to use with this fuel) one day later it arrived and I fired her up, Wow! There is no compromise to this stove! It’s lightweight. Stable, extremely affordable fuel (when found at the right price) and keeps up with my home kitchen natural gas burners. Don’t hesitate to buy it if you are looking for a backup cooking option for your home, or camping or even over landing, it’s great. Not for backpacking but too great not to have! Cheers! Off to eat my grilled. Trail Bologna and Guggisberg Swiss cheese!

Great portable stove for $30
I took my boys basic tent camping when we knew the forecast was mostly rain. I had no confidence we could get a fire going to cook, so I bought this little stove and used it under my canopy. One 8 oz butane canister lasted through boiling three pots of water for coffee/hot chocolate, making one full egg/sausage breakfast and one spaghetti dinner. The stove is a pinch flimsy, but it was prefect for what we needed. I did use a piece of foil to cover two of four angles from the wind to keep the heat on the boiling pots. I cooked with a stainless 12-cup percolator coffee pot, a 12” cast iron pan and a large cast iron Dutch oven. I used the stove’s carrying case to keep food warm by setting the food’s foil pan inside and closed the lid. While that’s off brand use, it worked well! I’ve had one great camping experience and am happy to own this for future!!!

An Absolute Must Have Item For Storm Areas
I bought two of these and a case of 12 cans of Butane when I moved to south Florida. I live at the entrance to the Keys where storms and power outages are a regular thing, and it is nice to at least be able to make some hot coffee or heat up some food when my electric range won’t work. I got these little burners because I had used one when I lived in the Philippines in a place that had no space for a proper kitchen. I went ahead and bought two, thinking my best friend could use one of them. I also bought a few other storm-prep items as well.Well, Hurricane Irma hit, and I was without power for eleven days. But, because I had these two little burners, I had hot food and coffee every day, and rode it out pretty well. By the way, about ten days of use several times a day to cook thinks like eggs, warm up soup, brewing coffee in a percolator, etc. used about 1.5 cans of Butane.I’ve also used these outdoors as a burner for use in conjunction with my grill. They are definitely handy and I think well worth the money.

Stove good, case not so much…
Took on a 3 night camping trip. The stove worked well, but the case sustained a crack. I was able to mend with electricians tape, but it shouldn’t have happened after one use.

No hoses work with this stove.
This Coleman single burner stove looks awesome and burns perfectly. Has a wide range of heat, full blast down to a small simmer. It feels sturdy and well made and is super portable for car camping. The burner of this model is secured to the base, unlike some others that remove and turn upside down to make them flatter for transport. No propane hoses work with this stove as they do with other stoves of this type. Bad move on Coleman to make the fitting proprietary. I want a hose. I thought I would buy one of the other stoves and use the hose on the Coleman. No go.$$ Butane bottles only. No propane.Bottle burns about 2 hours on high.Coleman folding oven works fine on this stove base.
