    Samsung Galaxy tablet

This is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a good size where I can read on it without it hurting my eyes. Catching it for this price was a bargain! It was cheaper here than anywhere else I found! So happy I made this purchase

    Quick charge long battery life.

I purchased this to replace my i-pad of 14 years. I was undecideds as to stay with i-pad or go with Samsung Tab. In the whole time of my electronic use my i-pad was the only apple item I had. I went with the Samsung tab for several reasons. Price was the main reason as it was on sale. The second was the size of the screen I use primarily for Kindle use and the screen was larger then any of the kindle products out there. The touch screen works seamlessly with minimal to no effort. I use a felt tip pen that didn’t come with the Tablet and it works great. This also has the ability to expand the memory, I don’t foresee me doing that but liked the fact it had the option. Followed the purchase with a cool looking dragon case to complete my new reading electronic. Was easy to set up and was reading books with an hour after receiving. The battery life is the biggest surprise as my i-pad was old, no longer updated but was still able to use for book reading and other things I needed to charge two to three times a day, or keep plugged in while using. I can go 2 days without a plug but remembers this is primarily used for reading books only so the battery doesn’t have that big of a strain on it. Even thou 3 different books in two days and no need for cord makes me happy as I can take the tablet anywhere without a cord for a length of time. I’m sure your battery use will vary from mine. Still nice tablet for the money.

Samsung Never Disappoints, Love Amazon Refurbished Products

Got this as a Christmas present for my S.O and the product came in excellent condition- just as described and works wonderfully. Synchs perfectly with our Samsung home. I love Amazon refurbished products; they are always high quality and are less harmful to the planet. Plus, you pay a lot less! Love this tablet.

    Love this pink

I like everything about this tablet. It is perfect for me. It is small enough to fit in my purse, But much easier to read than a cell phone. I had to order it on line to get pink. Women are the first ones to ask where did you get a pink tablet.

This works well for playing around. Storage size has been sufficient so far. The last tablet I purchased was 32 gb and after a couple months I ran out of storage even with minimal apps. No complaints other than it’s kinda heavy.

    My First Samsung Tablet

I wanted to add to my Samsung ecosystem (watch and phone) since it is my first Samsung tablet, I don’t have a comparison, but I do need to get a case for it because it’s slick and I’m afraid that it will eventually slip out my hand. When I was an Apple head, I owned iPads along with Apple watches & iPhones but that was many generations ago. When I started building my own PCs, I switched my flavor to Android because it just works better with my system.I like the design of this tablet it’s light weight but has a quality feel to it for a mid-budget device. I’ve only had it for a day and I need to use it out in the world for a while before I can provide an informed review so I will revisit this post if my opinion changes.

SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A8: Blending Power, Performance, and Affordability

From the moment I laid hands on the SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A8 10.5” Android Tablet, I felt a wave of excitement surge through me. I had just traded up from my week-old tablet, shattered by a small accident, and immediately, the potential of the Galaxy Tab A8 seemed limitless. Here, I’ve curated a comprehensive review of this device, drawn from my personal experience and bolstered by user feedback to deliver a true journalistic, fact-based, and SEO-friendly perspective.Firstly, I was smitten by the robust and seamless connectivity the Galaxy Tab A8 offered with my Samsung cellphone, including its cellular data. This feature transformed my disappointment about the lack of cellular connectivity in the tablet into a sense of satisfaction. It gave me the freedom to talk, text, browse the web and much more. The Galaxy Tab A8 provided ample storage with its 32GB internal capacity, which I expanded by adding a 128GB micro SD card. That, coupled with the seamless sync with my wireless keyboard and mouse, made the user experience more enjoyable. A noteworthy mention is the battery life – it lasts an entire day on a single charge, a feature that earned it some brownie points. One aspect I found quite challenging was setting up a child profile and restricting access to apps. However, after crossing that initial hurdle, the journey has been fairly smooth. My nephew, for whom I had bought the device to replace his fire tablet, enjoys gaming on it. The superior image quality, fantastic battery life, and impressive sound quality, despite the slight issue with the game field not expanding in landscape mode, make it a formidable gaming tablet. The Galaxy Tab A8 makes transferring data from previous devices effortless. It’s a great pick for showcasing product slideshows at my craft shows, proving its utility as a reliable business partner. The tablet, with its stunning 10.5″ LCD screen, Snapdragon 450 processor, 3GB RAM, Dolby Atmos surround sound technology, and Kids Mode, makes it an entertainment hub for all ages. However, despite its many positives, the Galaxy Tab A8 is not without its flaws. It’s slightly on the heavier side, making it a bit cumbersome to hold for longer durations. Additionally, the device’s lack of automatic brightness adjustment is a minor inconvenience.Pros:+ Seamless connectivity with Samsung cellphones.+ Ample storage capacity, expandable with a micro SD card.+ Excellent battery life.+ Immersive gaming experience.+ Easy data transfer from previous devices.+ Great for business presentations.+ Superior entertainment features with a stunning display and immersive sound.Cons:- Lacks cellular connectivity.- Challenging to set up child profiles and app restrictions.- Heavy to hold for prolonged periods.- Does not automatically adjust screen brightness. In conclusion, the SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A8 10.5” Android Tablet is a high-performance device that strikes a commendable balance between work and play. It has some areas for improvement, but overall, it delivers value for its price, making it a worthy purchase for individuals or families alike. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a blend of performance and affordability in their next tablet.

Not the best, not terrible, kinda a solid okay-ish

The Samsung A8 is near bottom of the Samsung line up of tablets. It comes in two memory sizes, 3gb and 4gb versions starting at 64gb of storage. Let me start by saying, there is no reason whatsoever to buy the 32gb variant as it comes with only 3gb of physical ram. That extra gig of ram is what makes this tablet worth the money. I only recommend the 4gb variant, and find the 64gb storage model is really the sweet spot with this tablet. So let’s get into the review. The first thing I noticed is the weight. It is a heavy tablet. This is not a deterrent to me as I do most of my gaming using an Xbox controller (bluetooth) so I am not holding onto the tablet for long periods of time. This is good because the weight of it becomes cumbersome very quickly. The 10.5″ screen is good, not great, but good. The tablet resolution, while not fantastic does allow HD playback on netflix. This is a nice touch. There is however, a one inch bezel round the screen. This makes the tablet look dated, as the era of large bezels is well beyond us. The only good thing about such large bezels is it gives the user a place to put their fingers when holding onto the tablet. The screen is quite bright, although the glossy surface does make use in bright environments difficult. My biggest issue with the screen is that it does not brighten or darken well when there is a change of lighting environment. This is a feature we have become used to, so it feels like a real miss in terms of ease of use. There are four speakers on this tablet on top and bottom (portrait mode) and they get quite loud. Don’t expect audiophile quality here, but they do the trick, and were able to create a wide soundstage when watching a movie. I would recommend the use of a quality earphone solution. I use QE2 monitor headphones and the sound was much better. There is no EQ baked into the OS, which is a letdown. There are few buttons on the side, a volume rocker, power switch and an earphone jack as well as USB C charging. It does support Bluetooth, which is good. I was able to have music playing on the tablet, and wash dishes in the kitchen while the tablet remained in the living room without any loss in signal. I also used it at the laundromat, with the tablet in a backpack, and was able to stay connected. One thing that is missing with the Bluetooth is hearing aid compatibility. While I can download the hearing aid app, connecting my aids to the tablet is another thing. Most hearing aid connections are established through the accessibility options in settings, however, Samsung chose not to include any hearing aid connections in their accessibility options. This is a huge miss. Those of us who are reliant upon hearing aids will find their experience reduced as a result. Considering this connection is just a software fix, not having it is a huge middle finger to the deaf community. Shame on you Samsung. The battery life is okay, but when connected to a 30 watt charger, it did recharge quite quickly. Unfortunately it comes with a very low wattage wall wart, so I recommend buying a higher wattage charger. This comes with Android 11. I installed a few apps such as the Kindle app which surprisingly works much better as an app then the native program on the Kindle HD 10. I also installed a few games, Asphalt 9, Castle Wreck, Bubble shooter and Klondike Forever and lastly the You Version Bible app. None of those apps besides the kindle were available in the Kindle app store. All the apps worked well enough, although Castle Wreck did cause the tablet to slow down due to the amount of rendering involved in that game, and the low amount of physical ram.So why should you buy this tablet? If you don’t want to pay for a pad from another fruity company, but want more than can be had from the Kindle HD 10 this is for you. That is really the best comparison to The Samsung A8. Provided you purchase a 4gb model, it functions much better than the HD 10, the biggest advantage is native access to the Google Play Store, and a full fat version of Android 11. Don’t expect a feature rich tablet like the S line of Samsung, but if you are interested in light web browsing, casual gaming and reading, as well as streaming media playback, this tablet will work well.So in the end, this tablet is a good enough introduction to the tablet market. With the affordable price, it is a good tablet for children, classrooms with a good screen protector and case, or for that family member who could use a tablet, but would not have the use of a more expensive unit. I started this review by recommending only the 4gb models, (64/128 storage). Believe me, you will notice a difference. 4gb of ram is quite low by today’s standards, and you will notice that in the performance. Web pages refresh a little to quickly, and after a day of use, the tablet will become noticeably slower, requiring a reboot. This can be mitigated a bit by fully shutting off programs, (swiping up, and swiping away open programs) as well as limiting notifications. As of now, there is no indication that Samsung intends to update this tablet to Android 12, but perhaps there will be a work around. Be careful, as the A8 is very low in specifications, and forcing a newer OS unintended for the product might cause it to age quicker then designed.Overall the A8 does meet my needs, and while not wonderful in any way, it gets the job done under $400, which is a plus.

    Amazon Was Great

Updated 6/26/23Other than maybe another year of quarterly security updates there will not be any further Android updates beyond Android 13. The latest security update is June 1, 2023.I am waiting on the Tab A9. So far, no definite word on whether there will be one. It will be a shame if there isn’t one because the Tab A8 once updated is a nice little tablet and meets my tablet needs. Not much power but I only use it for reading. I have a half a dozen or so reading apps besides the Kindle app and all are updated regularly.I would be disappointed if there is no Tab 9 because I dislike using Android tablets are not getting Android version updates or security updates. Going to the Tab S series just to get the latest updates given the Tab S series prices would not be my preference. The Tab A8 has served my needs nicely, but I don’t like using Android devices with old versions of Android especially when also are no longer getting security updates.Updated 9/21/22Beware the model they send you. There is more than one model of the TabA8. Unfortunately I received model SM-X200. The Samsung updates to this model are horrendous and as a result pose a security risk to the user. it is still on Android 11, One UI 3.1 and Android May 2022 security patch.I read somewhere, not confirmed that Samsung is not updating this model of the TabA8 to Android 12 and may update it to Android 13 at some point in time after Android 13 becomes available.I also have a TabA7 released one year before the TabA8 and Samsung updated my TabA7 to Android 12 months ago. Also, Samsung keeps the TabA7 up to date on Android Security patchesThe TabA8 works fine that is why I am not giving it a one star rating It is also very slow to charge. A lot slower than the TabA7.I can not recommend the SM-X200 model of the TabA8 at all. Maybe if you are in a different location this model of the TabA8 will update.Updated 3/22/22 See bottom of reviewNot reviewed for typos.I ordered a 4 x 64 version. The box said 4 x 64. The actual device as a 3 x 32. I contacted Amazon about the problem and they sent the correct replaement immediately and I received the replacement on the same date that i was scheduled to receive the originalNow about the Tab A8. I had previously purchased a Tab A7 3 x 64 from Amazon. You should be able to find my review of it on Amazon. This review is bascially a comparison of the A8 with the A7.First off. I recommend against buying the A8, 3 x 32 It wasn’t unitl I had used Switch to copy over my apps and data from the A7 to the original A8 that I received that I discovered they had sent me a 3 x 32 intead of a 4 x 64. If you order the 64GB version of the A8 it automatically comes with 4GB RAM.In any case the transfer of the apps and data from the A7 3 x 64 to the A8 3 x 32 took close to two hours using Samsung Switch. Transferring the data from the A7 to the A8, 4 x 64 took less than 15 minutes. There is no doubt that the extra 1GB RAM and 32GB of memory makes a big difference. The Tab A7 with 64GB is a very nice tablet but compared to the Tab A8 with 64GB the Tab 8A is signficantly faster. I opened multiple apps and switched between them without any lag.As I have posted before I am no gamer so I can’t comment of the gaming capabilities of either tablet but when it comes to everything else including downloading and installing updates the Tab A8 64GB is noticeably faster than the Tab A7 64GBThe display comparison is bit more complicated. The sharpness of the display is better on the A7 but the Tab A8 display at 10.5″ vs 10.4″ of the Tab A7 is more boxy and looks more like a desktop display than a tablet display. I put up a video on the Tab A8 and a 23″ Samsung desktop display monitor. While some of the picture is lost on the Tab A8 it isn’t a lot compared to the Tab A7 which crops off a good deal of the top and bottom. For some reason, the Tab A7 has a better; i.e., signficantly louder audio than the Tab A8 both running on Android 11 with Samsung UI 3.1. The Tab A8 audio is good for watching videos etc but the Tab A7 can give you room type audio when you are listening to music. I can’t judge the distortion but in any case while the Tab 8A audio is fine the Tab A7 audio is better. While neither the Tab A7 or A8 batteries will charge very fast I haven’t noticed much diffenece between the two with the Tab A8 charging a bit faster using the Samsung charging block and cable that came with the Tab A8. No comment on battery draing speed as that will always vary based upon usage. I ams satisfied with the battery drain speed on both the Tab A7 and Tab A8, Then again I don’t play games.Final comment. The Tab A8 is year newer so it came with Android 11 vs Android 10 for Tab A7. So it should get one more Android update and Samsung related UI update down the road. Both are nice tablets but the extra GB of RAM along with a different CPU makes the Tab A8 a lot more enjoyable to use.Update 3/22/22Heptics – The heptics on the Tab A8 are super sensitive which makes for very light touches. On the Tab A7 the heptics are not nearly as sensitive.Startup – With the Tab A8 there is very little impact on usage immediately upon startup after logging in. Upon login you should be able to alsmost immediately begin doing whatever. On the Tab A7 you have to wait for software like anti-malware to do their thing after login before you can do much of anything. The wait time will vary depending on your software. For that reason I don’t turn off the Tab A7 except when I know I won’t be using it for an extended period, like a day or more. I think the extra GB of RAM in the Tab A8 makes the difference since both my Tab A8 and Tab A7 are loaded with identical software including Android 11 and Samsung 3.1 UI.Battery – Samsung UI 3.1 does a good job of saving battery after it learns which takes a few days. Therefore, leaving the Tab A8 or Tab A7 on does not drain much battery once the devices are optimized by the Samsung software as long as you turn off the display when the devices are not in use. I also recommend turning off the display for playing music, streaming or otherwise if you want to save on battery drain. In order to assure continuous playing of music when the display is off you have go to the music playing app and turn on allow in battery saving mode.

Beautiful tablet with some small issues

I wanted this tablet for one purpose: I needed an extra tablet just to play music. My iPad could do it – but I prefer using my iPad for gaming and browsing. I’m impressed with the slim design and the sleek look of this tablet. It charged right up and I’ve been using Spotify on it for several days, still doesn’t need to be charged. So battery life is quite good. It’s compatible with my Samsung phone so it automatically logged me into several apps without me having to do much. It was ready to go right out of the box. I connected it to a JBL Bluetooth speaker and it sounds like I have a great sound system. The only downside to this machine is the touch screen. It can suddenly play dumb when you swipe the screen or tap on something. I have to tap several times to get its attention. I tried a couple of my puzzle games and had the same problem, poor response to tapping. Overall it’s a nice little tablet that is perfect as a backup for music, reading, browsing, email etc. and a great value for the price.

    Love This Tablet!

I upgraded my Samsung tablet and I love this one! It’s got a large screen and it’s very clear. If you already have Samsung devices you can sync all of them if you want. I didn’t do a direct sync but, I was able to sync my Calender from my phone to my tablet. I put a lot of apps and some games on it and it still runs fast.

    Best buy

First of all it’s Samsung… need I say more? Anyways I bought it for my son to replace the kids fire tablet because he couldn’t watch prime on an AMAZON tablet. Shipping was fast and secure… I LOVED that a password was required for delivery. I’ve had too many issues with Amazon delivery lately. So much space to download the shows my son watches for travel. Easy set up. Battery lasts at least 6 hours during continuous use. No charge needed for at least 2 days when not in use. I will definitely be buying one for myself next.

What can I say , you can’t go wrong with a Samsung. It is thin and lightweight. I kinda like mine phones and tablets on the hefty side but that’s me. The graphics are super great, truly outstanding. I would say to buy a good case with this product would be good if you did. So to get it to feel like it’s not going to float away. I loved it, I used to use my laptop all the time, and carring it around wasn’t always that easy, but this tablet solved all those problems, it fits in all my purses, it’s light enough, the screen is great to watch videos, reading or listen to music. Excellent Tablet

Let me start off by saying that I have had several K***** tablets (I’m sure you know which ones I’m referring to. I’m hoping that by not naming them that this review won’t be taken down.) Those tablets didn’t come close to the quality and usability of this one. First of all it’s much faster. It doesn’t bog-down the way the K*****s do. I can get decent apps from the Google Playstore rather than the proprietary junk I had to use on the other devices. The setting feature is very well organized. A really nice feature is that since I have a Galaxy phone, I’ve been able to link the tablet to it. If I’m using my tablet and receive a text, I don’t have to put it down and pick up my phone. I just view, and respond to, the text on my tablet. My pictures and other docs are synced. The camera is pretty good but the one on my phone is a bit better. My only complaints are that it’s a bit slow to start (roughly a minute rather than the 30 seconds I was used to.) The other thing is that the frame seems to be narrower than I’m used to. I’m always turning pages when I don’t intend to. But that might just be my way of holding it. The battery life could be a bit longer. But other than those few minor things, I can find no fault with it. I highly recommend this tablet; especially if you have a Galaxy phone.

    Impressive tablet for the money.

Very happy with this purchase. Set up was very easy and straightforward. Picture quality is nice, the quad speakers sound good even at full volume with no distortion. Out of the box, already was 62% charged. Standard charging might be a little slower than most people would like, I would recommend investing in a good lightning charger. Also bought a longer cable, the standard cable included is only 30 inches. I honestly have found nothing that I am unhappy with. Prompt delivery and arrived in perfect condition, new and unopened packaging. You can definitely buy from this business with no worries.

For a mid range-tablet, it does what I wanted it to do…just don’t over do it…

I use the Galaxy Tab A8 on stage and rehearsals for reference for songs (chords, sheet music, lyrics, etc). It can do more, but I’m not trying to push this to it’s limits for what I need the screen to be on all the time for shows…although I will use it as a sleep/white noise machine for sleep on occasion (wish YT allowed for screen off but maintained audio, but that’s TY for ya)…It is what I was expecting.. a very good quality and performance for a mid ranged tablet. I would’ve gone with a smaller footprint tablet, but those were underpowered, and the screen was a lot worse that this. It’s not trash, but I’d be paying Tab S8 money for a larger screen…I’m not looking to add weight to a mic stand mount to have it tip over, so this fit the bill.Screen – as I mentioned, the screen is not trash. Looks rather smooth considering. Could be better in the brightness department as well, but this is because of the type of display that’s used. Think older LED tv’s to a 2K computer monitor. It’s slight, but noticeable. I compared this to a mentioned S8. This is what you’re paying for that (amongst other things). I’m okay with this compared to the price vs the S8. Like I also mentioned before, I would’ve gone for the smaller footprint, but trade off is a slightly worse screen for it’s size, and the weight and performance (the 64bg and 128gb variant has 4G RAM, compared to the 32gb storage variant having only 3gb RAM).Weight – compared to the S8, this wins the weight ratio to size for lighter tablet (even with a spigen lightweight case on this thing).Performance – This is where the added RAM is helpful. My lead guitarist has this same tablet in the 32gb version, and the added ram is a super helpful when opening the PDFs for songs and lyrics while having the setlist up on the other half of the tablet for the split screen. Especially when leaving the screen timeout to never and having the brightness down enough to not be bothersome on stage to anyone else. It was a bit snappier when I compared it to a head to head test between the 2 (I adjusted the screen animations in Developer Options). It brought up several PDF’s up a tad bit faster, but you can definitely make due with the 32gb, but I’d rather have that room for the PDF’s and probably songs I’ve downloaded for reference on a 512gb microSD card and allow for the performance on the tablet not be bogged down by the tablet being full of files. I’ve also used this as a touchscreen mouse pad for a laptop connected to my TV as a HTPC via Bluetooth. I prefer a keyboard and trackball for this, but in a pinch, this using an app helps. No lag or problems.Speakers – I do use this as a sleep machine when I need it, and it does help me. It’s loud, bordering on annoying in a bedroom. But I’ve had no issues with the audio on it using as a browser, multimedia device, and using headphones (wired or wireless, via the headphone jack, Bluetooth, or dongle). Also I’ve adjusted some things in Dev Options for this as well…so no issues. There’s not a whole lot to say for this for what I use it for…It has worked flawlessly, so there are no regrets. This is a great little device.

    Fits My Needs

I love Samsung products, and this tablet is no exception. I needed a tablet, mainly for business purposes, and this does just what I need it to do.Pros:- Great for muti-taking- Good battery life (I’ve used it for about 5hrs, before charging it)- Clear/crisp screen- Perfect size (bigger than my phone, yet smaller than my laptop)- Good speaker- Good camera (I use it mainly for video meetings)- Aux jack. (I sometimes use my wired earpiece/mic, b/c bluetooth can be a battery drainer)- Responsive to my stylus, without having to press to hard or hold it a certain way (I notate/write alot)Cons (these seem to be typical of Samsung gadgets in general):- Bloatware (too many useless apps that can’t be removed or turned off)- Constant updates (it updates practically, every other day)Neutral:- I’m on the fence, about this tablet’s speed. It can take a bit to initially start up, but once it’s on, it’s great.Overall, I’m really happy with the tablet, and definitely recommend it.

    Impressive Tablet Experience

This tablet is a winner! The size is just right, offering a perfect balance between portability and screen real estate. It’s incredibly responsive, making it ideal for various tasks like gaming, streaming, and browsing. The expandable storage is a huge plus, providing ample space for all my needs. Plus, the price point is unbeatable for the quality you get. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase! I bought my husband one too!!

I really wanted to love this tablet!

After several years of owning various Amazon tablets, I wanted to try something different. I was looking to get away from the “Amazon centric” ads, promotions and so on. I also was hoping to link my tablet to my PC, so that I could do more remotely. I did a good amount of research and decided upon this Samsung tablet. I have a Samsung cell phone, so I thought I would like the added convenience of linking that as well. I was very happy with the slightly larger screen compared to my Fire 10 tab, I liked that it was thinner and felt comfortable to hold. Upon receiving it, I followed the instructions and linked my phone to it. Basically, I wound up with a larger version of my cell screen and a download of the compatible apps. Unfortunately, my carrier doesn’t provide service for a tablet, so I didn’t have that available. I also didn’t really want my tablet to mirror my cell phone. So, I returned to factory settings and started over, backing up the info before I did the reset. I started over, but found as soon as I tried to restore the apps and info I’d backed up, it reset my phone to reflect the tablet. Also, not what I wanted. I then tried to link it to my PC, which also did not work. Now, to be honest, I’m not a techie so this may be all my fault. However, not to be discouraged (I really wanted this tablet to work for me!) I did another factory reset, this time bypassing the restoration of any previously installed info or apps. After reloading apps from the Play Store, I thought I was ready to sail along smoothly with my brand new tablet. Not so fast! The internet response was sluggish, the screen was ultra sensitive, the battery took longer (than my Fire 10) to charge and seemed to run out quicker. I found it more difficult to use my Prime membership, with more steps needed to purchase books, watch movies and just get to my account. I think the Fire tablets spoil you in the ease of accessing everything Amazon. So, I sent this tablet back. And, because my husband (who never wanted anything to do with a tablet) discovered how much nicer it was using my old tablet to play solitaire and watch videos, instead of this cell phone, I am ordering a new Fire 10 for myself! This is one person’s opinion, and I’m not saying the Samsung Galaxy A8 is a bad tablet, but if you’ve been using Fire tablets for any length of time you may want to stick to that brand. Otherwise, I am sure this tablet is fine for people not wanting the Amazon link-ins, like the slightly larger and thinner screen, and the advantages of using the Google Play Store. Additionally, my cell phone and PC are on the older side, as technology goes, so with a newer PC, cell phone and different cell service- you may be able to have success where I failed!

Lightweight and very nice for on the go.

Great for holding or leaving in a stand and has excellent graphics as videos and games look good. It only has the charging usb port, so if you plan to use other devices like a keyboard they’ll need to be bluetooth. Especially if you plan to use it while charging it. Delivery was fast and no issues. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a sturdy tablet worth the investment, just maybe plan on finding a samsung keyboard/case to use with it.

    Large and very nice

I have used this tablet for a month now and I love it. I usually prefer a smaller size for reading since it fits in the hands easier, but I wanted a larger size to practice digital copies of music more easily and for streaming movies. The battery lasts a long time. I watched two movies back to back and still had power left over. And when in charge it using the cables or came with, charges quickly.I like the screen quality and haven’t had any concerns with the brightness in dim or bright conditions. I like how the screen size helps me view books with images better. Like children’s books and cookbooks. The sound has been good and got louder than I expected. The quality of the sound is as good as you would expect. If I want it to sound nicer I connect it to my Bluetooth speaker.I feel like the processing time is fast too. I haven’t had any issues streaming or playing games. I like that Samsung will show you to download any app suitable for a tablet unlike the Fire which my husband has and blocks certain competitor apps. It didn’t come with a lot of boat already installed that I had any issues with either.Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a larger tablet.

    Not a fan

I am no noob when it comes to setting up e-devices. I have been buying and setting up computers of all descriptions since the early 80’s and have been addicted to cell phones since the early ’90’s. I have no idea how many of these I have set up for myself and others. Probably in the hundreds. I bought the tablet to run the Nook software, as my Nook Color died and B&N is no longer making it. As my collection of over 1200 books includes a lot of books for which color is imperative (non-fiction books, especially cookbooks, instructional books, and travel books) I needed to use a tablet as the android apps are the only ones that currently can access book photos in color. The tablet does run that app, and it does it fairly well. Any nits I have to pick with the performance would be with the software, not the tablet. My problems with the tablet are many. I bought the package which contained the tablet, the cover, and the screen protector. The cover does not function well when the tablet is in use, though it does provide good protection when the tablet is not in use. For me, it is hinged on the wrong side. When I use the tablet in landscape mode, I would prefer to be able to open the cover from the bottom and flip it back over the top. You can sort of do that, but many apps are then upside down because the tablet does not actually show all apps in every direction. Tucking the front cover under the tablet is really awkward, as it does not stay tucked very well–no latch of any kind keeps it in place, it just sort of flaps. In theory, the cover is supposed to fold into a prop to support the screen, but it does not stay in position. It keeps falling away. I suppose it might work on a desk–but I didn’t buy a tablet to use on a desk. I have a computer with a real screen on my desk. The tablet is to be used when I am sitting on the sofa or lying in bed. I may also use it in a moving car or train. The screen protector is a bust. I carefully followed the instructions (not my first screen protector, by far). Nevertheless, it did not adhere correctly and there is a bubble on one corner where the screen protector will not stick to the screen. The tablet is also pretty heavy for a handheld device. About twice the weight of the Noook I replaced. After an hour of reading my wrist feels the weight. I would gladly trade an inch or so of screen size for a lighter device. So much for the physical aspects.I bought a micro SD card which should work with the tablet. (Samsung does not actually specify which cards will or will not work, but the SanDisk 512 seems to meet all the requirements.) The instructions for installation were hard to get to. You don’t actually get a user manual either in pdf or paper, you must use an online version. The location of the slot is not actually identified in the instructions, you have to look around the perimeter of the tablet looking for something that has a hole for the pin. Then the pin doesn’t work the first 20 times I tried to insert it perfectly perpendicular to the tablet. The hole is too large and it is hard to find whatever it is I am supposed to make contact with. Then, when it finally pops out a bit, it is really hard to pull out. This concerns me because computers are delicate and using force is just about always not a good idea. The micro SD card will only fit in the carrier one way, so that is not much of a problem, even using tweezers to avoid touching the card with fingers. I carefully inserted the card with the carrier in the same position as it was when it came out. Problem is, the tablet is not seeing the card. No help in the manual for troubleshooting this. In settings>battery and device care>storage the sd card simply does not appear. No troubleshooting tips. Without the SD card I can only download a few books at a time, so my “library” is largely a sunk cost that is not easily accessed. So the primary reason for purchasing the tablet is really only half a success. The pluses: the browsers work well, I can easily switch between apps via the task bar. It was relatively easy to install the client for my Reolink security cameras. That, too, is easily reached from the task bar. The screen is adequate for my uses. I do some reading of news, etc. and that works well. One can view movies, but I would not use a tablet to watch a movie. I do those on higher def, larger screens.I am not a fan of touch screens, but this one is as good as any other I have used. The print is clear in various sizes, photos display quite well for the size, internet sites are good. Obviously, I do not want a keyboard and mouse for reading books or the other quick things I do on the tablet. The point is that it is very mobile within the house and easy to access and use compared to a laptop or desktop. The problem with any touch screen is that they are constantly in need of cleaning. The screen protector makes that pretty simple, the actual screen is not touched and the protector is easily wiped clean, though the corner that does not adhere must be carefully wiped. It is possible to go into the settings and turn on or off different swiping motions that can be accidentally triggered by motions within certain apps. I do like that option because reading in bed or in a chaise lounge can easily produce various swipe-like movements if I fall asleep or if the dog decides to join me.Recharging is easy and quick enough for my purposes. I use the tablet for only a few hours each evening, so it currently can go 5 or 6 nights without recharging, though I tend to recharge it far more often. It may be convenient to look into syncing the calendar with the one on my phone. As my current phone is also a Samsung Galaxy I imagine that would be really easy to do, though I haven’t tried it yet, the sync feature is in the menu. I would want to look into privacy issues before starting that, but this could be a nice feature and I am glad that it is there.I think that perfection, for me, might have been a smaller screen, that would have been lighter and a pre-installed micro SD card. I might eventually ditch the cover and go with a 3rd party substitute that would protect the device when it is not in use, but be out of the way when I am using the tablet. I would also love a USB port. Unfortunately, many of the options I would like are only available on the larger tablets and bigger is definitely not the direction I want. I would gladly pay more for a better quality smaller screen with more muscle in the box. The larger screens start moving into laptop computer area. I already have several of those for various purposes and do not need another. The point of the tablet is to have something that is much bigger than a cell phone but also much smaller and compact than a laptop. So I give the tablet 3 stars. It is not what I want or what I had hoped for, but it can be made to do at least some of what I need it for. Others will undoubtedly have other priorities.

    Bluetooth

The tablet itself seems to be working and in good clean condition. The only issue I have so far is that when I connect headphones via Bluetooth I can’t stream videos. It buffers like crazy. The second I disconnect and play without headphones it streams flawlessly. Maybe someone knows something I dont and has a solution. Please help.Update: figured out the problem. Had to go to setting under app permissions and turn something off for Bluetooth. Never had to do this with any app before, but either way its working great now. Hope it continues to.

Great Deal at the Cyber Monday price

This review is for the 64 GB version, which I snagged for 43% off on 11-27-23. At that discount price, I’m very happy with this tablet. It’s replacing my 2016 Galaxy Tab 2, which wouldn’t upgrade beyond Android 7 and was struggling with demanding apps.(UPDATED – Please see below) That said, the old S2 has better display quality! Despite being slightly smaller, the S2’s 9.7 inch AMOLED screen offers a brighter, sharper screen with more saturated colors and better contrast then the A8’s 10.5 inch TFT. OLED screens are still relatively expensive, so you get what you pay for here.In the A8’s favor, it’s head and shoulders above the S2 by any measure other than display quality. Performance is snappy and the screen is more than adequate for Internet surfing and reading. Sound quality is also much better than the old tablet’s. It’s running Android 13 now, and I believe Samsung plans to roll out Android 14 for the A8 within the next few months.>>UPDATE: This display isn’t so bad after all. Turns out that a feature called “Eye Comfort Shield” was enabled by default. It’s kind of like the “Night Light” display setting in Windows, and on this tablet it really washes out the picture. New photo attached for comparison purposes… it’s a lot closer to the image quality on my old S2’s OLED screen. I’m now totally happy with the Tab A8, and have upgraded this review from 4 to 5 Stars.
